Sign up as a field trip chaperone, fill out our carpool survey and get ready for more events - field trips, soccer games, the Arts and Crafts Fair, and EOGs are coming! Read about some early release days with EOGs.
Important Reminder:
We recommend you pick up for early dismissal by 2:45pm to allow time for checking out your student and exiting the parking lot without impacting dismissal car line. Please do not attempt to pick-up your students after 3pm as that is our final cut-off time.
There is no parking in the bus lot during the school day, and especially not by parents picking up their students.
Please arrive earlier for car line in the morning. We are experiencing a higher volume of cars arriving at once, causing a bottle neck, and more students are tardy to their first class. Social probation begins at 10 tardies, and we don't want our students to miss out on our upcoming field trips, movie nights, dances, or field day!

Upcoming Field Trips & Chaperone Request
We are excited to provide amazing field trips in May for our students and we require chaperone assistance. If you are interested, please fill out the form:
Each location has a different chaperone requirement so we will select the first volunteers to submit their interest and then put the other names on a wait list. We will communicate all details with you in the weeks before the event.
If you would like to volunteer for more than one grade/ field trip, please submit a form for each grade/ field trip, however priority will be given to those who otherwise wouldn't be able to participate. The schedule is as follows:
Full Day 8:15am-3:30pm
3rd - Mon 5/18 - Lazy 5 Ranch
4th - Wed 5/20 - NC Zoo in Asheboro (Extended Day - late return)
5th - Thurs 5/21 - Old Salem Museums and Gardens (Extended day - late return)
6th - Tue 5/19 - Sullenberger Aviation Museum
8th - Thu 5/21 - Kings Mountain
9-10th - Wed 5/13 - Southtown Wake Park
9-10th - Tue 5/19 - College Visit to Winthrop University
7th grade is visiting the Butterfly Project at the JCC on 5/12 and no chaperones are needed.

Important Information:
You must be a registered volunteer at Telra Institute and have a background check run. If selected as a chaperone, please come to the front desk to initiate the process.
Most field trips will leave Telra as soon as possible after the 8:15am bell is rung. You should arrive no later than 7:40am to park, sign in, and avoid the arrival car line traffic.
EOG/ EOC Testing Schedule
During our last ten days of school, students in grades 3 and above will be taking EOGs and EOCs. Students must arrive on time in order to test. No late arrivals will be admitted on testing days. Please see below for the testing schedule.
May 27* - Reading EOG (Grades 3-8)
May 28* - Reading EOG Make-Up
May 29 - Math EOG (Grades 3-8)
June 1 - Math EOG Make-Up
June 2 - Reading EOG Retest
June 3 - Math EOG Retest
June 4 - Read to Achieve Test (Select 3rd Grade Students), Science EOG (Grades 5 and 8), Biology EOC (Grade 7)
June 5 - Math 1 and Math 3 EOC (Select Students in Grades 3-10)
June 8 - Biology EOC (Select High School Students), English 2 EOC (Select High School Students), EOC Make-Up (K-8)
*Please note that May 27th and 29th will be early release days for K-8 with dismissal beginning at 2:00 PM. High school will operate on a normal schedule on these days, but there will be no afternoon bus service for HS students, so parents will need to pick up students from the high school.
Science Olympiad Division B States - Update
Telra Institute Shines at North Carolina Science Olympiad State Tournament
The Telra Institute Science Olympiad Division B team proudly represented the school at the North Carolina State Science Olympiad, held over two days at NC State University in Raleigh. Competing against 45 teams from across the state, our students achieved an impressive overall rank of 15th in their very first appearance at the state level.
The competition featured 25 challenging events spanning diverse areas of science, providing students with an enriching academic experience. Beyond the events, participants had the opportunity to explore the university campus, engage with peers from other schools, and gain valuable exposure to a highly competitive scientific environment.

Culture Fair 2026
Thank you to all the amazing families that made our 2026 Culture Fair a huge success! We had over 30 countries represented! We had amazing cultural dances from:

Families brought in food from their home countries, shared information about their culture, decorated their tables, wore traditional costumes, and more!
NCDOT Study on Charter School Carpool - Survey
We are supporting the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) on a study focusing on carpool at charter schools across the state.
We know that managing drop-off and pick-up requires balancing safety, efficiency, staffing, and caregiver expectations, often with limited time and resources. This study is designed to better understand those day-to-day realities and identify practical ways NCDOT can better support schools.
As part of the study, Telra families are invited to participate in a short survey led by UNC researchers about your experience with school drop-off and pick-up. The survey takes about 10 minutes and is intended for the caregiver who usually handles drop-off and/or pick-up.

Spring Picture Day - Make-up Pictures and New Students 4/29
Our Spring Picture Day is on Wednesday, April 29th. Pictures will be taken of students who have enrolled since our picture day in the Fall and other students who missed the Fall picture day.
Their photography team is specifically trained to inspire confidence and capture genuine expressions—we don’t take bad pictures!

Telra Summer Camps
Telra is excited to offer summer camp this summer! Our BASE program will shift from before and after-school care to summer-care and we will also continue with our amazing Camp Wonder academic camps!
Camp Wonder
Telra is back with another summer of learning! Designed as an alternative to your typical summer camp, Telra camps combine learning and fun with clear instructional goals and an opportunity to move the needle on student learning in four short weeks.
The camps are open to students from any school, but spaces are limited, and Telra students will have priority. (Otherwise, they will be allocated in order of registration, so sign up fast!)

Enjoy a high supervision ratio: 1 teacher per 5-7 students

Some camps are modular so that you can participate week-by-week

BASE Summer Camp
Telra is excited to offer summer camp this summer! Our BASE program will shift from before and after-school care to summer-care! We are offering camp for the full summer!
Telra adopts the Let Grow Play Club approach to help kids build confidence, resilience, and self-reliance through independent play. We value risk-taking within safe limits, and during Play Club activities, staff supervise for safety only, not to lead or guide play. Kids solve disputes, negotiate their own rules, and invent their own games. Conflict resolution support only provided when truly necessary.

Peer Tutoring Information
We are excited to share that a select group of our high school students are offering peer tutoring sessions for math on Tuesdays from 3:40–4:45 PM.
If you would like your child to participate, please complete the sign-up form (Click Here). If you have more than one child attending, you will need to complete a separate form for each child. Each session is limited to 10 students and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions can be booked up to three weeks in advance.
Please note that tutoring is for math only, and students must bring their workbook, textbook, and any specific assignments or problems they need help with.
