Carolina Regional Middle School Science Bowl - Telra Wins!

On Saturday, March 14, the Telra Institute team competed in the Carolina Regional Middle School Science Bowl and successfully secured the regional championship.

The winning team consists of:

- Advai Nalla (7th Grade, Team Captain)

- Sahas Srivas Prasanna (6th Grade)

- Advik Chippada (6th Grade)

- Bhumi Yuvaraj (6th Grade)

- Mahisaa Muthumaharaja (6th Grade)

After a highly competitive semi-final victory against Metrolina Scholars Academy in a tie-breaker, our students faced Davis Drive Middle School—a highly respected team from Raleigh that has held the regional title for the past seven years. Our students remained remarkably focused and worked collaboratively to secure the win. We are incredibly proud of the dedication and countless hours they invested in preparing for this competition. Thank you to coaches Akila Ravi Sundaresan and Mahalakshmi Yuvaraj for their efforts and in making the team so successful!

As a result of this victory, the team has been invited on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to represent Telra Institute and Carolina Region at the National Science Bowl National Finals from April 30 to May 4.

Telra Competes at the Envirothon!

On March 17th, five of our fifth-grade students participated in the Regional Envirothon middle school event at Dan Nicholas Park in Salisbury, competing alongside schools from 12 counties. The Envirothon is a hands-on outdoor environmental science competition covering Wildlife, Forestry, Aquatic Ecology, Soils and Land Use, and Current Environmental Issues.

The day began with expert-led, hands-on sessions across all five topics, including soil testing, wildlife identification, tree recognition, aquatic ecosystems, and current environmental issues. Students worked together at each station. The team did very well, nearly placing in the top 10 teams! We look forward to building on this success for next year!

Telra Culture Fair

We are thrilled to announce that our school will be hosting a Culture Fair event on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 from 5-7pm, and we would love to invite you and your family to join us in celebrating the wondrous cultures that make Telra such a vibrant community.

What is the Culture Fair?

Our Culture Fair offers an exciting opportunity for us to come together, share our unique traditions, and celebrate the many cultures that make up our school. It's a day to learn from each other, foster mutual understanding, and deepen our appreciation for the diverse backgrounds that enrich our community.

While traditional elements like cuisine, dance, attire, and celebrations from around the world will be a highlight of the event, we also recognize that culture is not limited to these practices. Culture is also shaped by the passions, interests, and identities that make each of us unique.

How You Can Participate

We invite you to participate in the Telra Culture Fair in whatever way feels meaningful to you. Whether you'd like to share a piece of your culture, showcase a tradition or hobby, or simply attend and enjoy the festivities with your family, your presence will be deeply appreciated. We welcome volunteers to help with organizing activities, setting up tables, or contributing in any other way that interests you. Your involvement will make a significant impact on the experience we create for our students and the entire Telra community.

If you'd like to participate or volunteer, please review the available slots and sign-up by clicking below.

Car Line Reminders

A big THANK YOU to all of our parents who have made our car line successful. Since the start of the calendar year, we have had a great record of arriving on time and car line ending early. However, this week, we've had three days on which we had significant tardies. If arriving in car line, please leave early, have your children ready to exit the car swiftly, and say goodbye before they leave the car.

Helping Hands

Parents, we need your help! Please sign up to volunteer for "Helping Hands" - these helpers assist Telra staff by volunteering on Tuesdays or Fridays from 9-11am - completing tasks left for them in the "Helping Hands" box in the teacher workroom. These tasks may include copying papers, cutting out items, organizing the Lost and Found area, or re-shelving books in the neighborhood libraries - these are just a few examples of how you can help! When we have special requests, they will be added to the sign-up.

The Front Desk staff will assist you on where to go and what needs to be done. Please review the available slots in the link below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you for supporting our awesome staff!
