A Note from the Principals
We're all enjoying some refreshingly cool spring days and eagerly looking forward to the warmth of the season ahead!
Telra Institute is such a unique school where children from different corners of the world receive a high-quality, tuition-free education. We have many different languages, religions, cultures, and ethnicities in our school. This is a richness, and we truly embrace it.
However, being new to the country and having relatives in our home countries bring challenges as well. From time to time, you may need to travel to your home country during the academic school year due to emergency situations, and we truly understand. In addition, there are many different reasons why students cannot attend school, even though they want to.
During your child’s absence, we can mark them as excused-absent or unexcused-absent based on the criteria outlined in the School Attendance and Student Accounting Manual released by the NC Department of Instruction. We cannot do anything beyond what is explained in the manual. For reference, please click the link below to see the manual.

However, if your child will be absent, please inform our administrators and teachers. During their absence, you can access all lesson materials through MS Teams to stay updated on their learning. Please note that students must complete any missed assignments upon their return to Telra.
Have a great week!
- Principals Ozer and Rearick

Car Line Reminders
We want to say a huge thank you to all our parents who follow our car line rules and help us keep Telra students and staff safe. Below is just a reminder of our car line policies so that we can keep the information fresh to mind!
For a safe and efficient carpool experience at Telra Institute, please adhere to the following guidelines:
General Etiquette:
Safety First: Always follow the directions of staff members managing the car line.
Stay Alert: Avoid distractions such as using mobile devices while in the car line.
Keep the Line Moving: Ensure your child is ready to exit or enter the vehicle promptly to maintain a steady flow of traffic.
Drive slowly: safety is our priority!
No Cell Phone Use in the Car Line!
Arrival and Departure Times:
Morning Drop-Off:
Cars are permitted to enter the drop-off line starting at 7:43 AM, entering at the end of the church road by the orange cone
Unloading begins at 7:50 AM
The morning bell rings at 8:15 AM. Arrivals after this time are considered tardy, and parents must park and sign in their child in the front office
Do not drop off your student at the bus lot and ask them to walk to the entrance
Afternoon Pick-Up:
Cars can enter the pick-up line starting at 3:03 PM. entering at the end of the church road by the orange cone
The afternoon bell rings at 3:30 PM, with students beginning to exit between 3:35 PM and 3:40 PM
The car line concludes at 3:55 PM. Pick-ups after 4:15 PM will incur after-care charges.
Car Line Procedures:
Traffic Flow:
The car line operates in a one-way flow. Access the main entrance from the road between the Baptist church and St. Francis church.
Do not attempt to enter the driveways directly on McKee Rd, as one is designated for buses only and the other is exit-only.
Drop-Off/Pick-Up Lanes:
The car line expands to three lanes. If you are instructed to be in a certain lane, stay in that lane for safety. Do not change lanes.
Students should enter and exit from the driver's side (left side) of the car. Ensure children are prepared to do so.
Parents are advised to remain in the car. If assistance is needed for seat belts or car seats, pull forward around the curve and then off to the side to attend to your child.
Punctuality:
Students should be in class in their seats at 8:15am.
Aim to arrive during the "Green zone" (7:55 AM – 8:05 AM) to ensure your child has ample time to settle in before classes begin at 8:15am.
Arrivals between 8:05 AM and 8:10 AM ("Yellow zone") may risk tardiness due to unforeseen delays.
Arrivals after 8:10 AM ("Red zone") have a high likelihood of being tardy.
By following these guidelines, we can maintain a safe and efficient carpool process for all members of the Telra community.

Telra Culture Fair
We are thrilled to announce that our school will be hosting a Culture Fair event on April 1, 2025, and we would love to invite you and your family to join us in celebrating the wondrous cultures that make Telra such a vibrant community.
What is the Culture Fair?
Our Culture Fair offers an exciting opportunity for us to come together, share our unique traditions, and celebrate the many cultures that make up our school. It's a day to learn from each other, foster mutual understanding, and deepen our appreciation for the diverse backgrounds that enrich our community.
While traditional elements like cuisine, dance, attire, and celebrations from around the world will be a highlight of the event, we also recognize that culture is not limited to these practices. Culture is also shaped by the passions, interests, and identities that make each of us unique.
How You Can Participate
We invite you to participate in the Telra Culture Fair in whatever way feels meaningful to you. Whether you'd like to share a piece of your culture, showcase a tradition or hobby, or simply attend and enjoy the festivities with your family, your presence will be deeply appreciated. We welcome volunteers to help with organizing activities, setting up tables, or contributing in any other way that interests you. Your involvement will make a significant impact on the experience we create for our students and the entire Telra community.
If you'd like to participate or volunteer, please review the available slots and sign-up here. Should you have any questions or need more information, feel free to email karly.lucas@telra.org.
