A Note from the Principals
Dear Telra Families,
These past few weeks, we have had some wonderful events here at our school that have fostered community, and we are looking forward to even more in the coming weeks. We had movie nights that brought our curriculum to the big screen. Kindergarten experienced Flow, a story told without words, as they applied their knowledge of characters, setting, problem, and solution. 1st grade traveled back in time as they watched The Prince of Egypt. 2nd grade watched the Greek gods come to life through Hercules, while 3rd grade revisited The Wind in the Willows, which is one of the first stories they read this year. 6th grade blasted off into space with The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Our 4th and 5th graders got together to enjoy some board games recently, including Risk, Yahtzee, jigsaw puzzles, Clue, and more! It was great to see the students playing together and enjoying so many classic games.
6th through 9th grade enjoyed their annual party a few weeks ago, and we had a crew of students who helped organize this event. We were so impressed with all of the planning they put into Light the Night. Students enjoyed dancing, volleyball, pizza, and time with friends.
Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the Culture Fair this past week! We are so lucky to have such a diverse population here at Telra, and having the chance to share cultures with each other is such a wonderful opportunity. I hope you all enjoyed the event as much as we did!
In the coming weeks, we have our annual Art Walk and Craft Fair, field trips, 5th grade movie night, and more! Be on the lookout in our telegrams for more information.

Virtue of the Month - Forgiveness
This month, our Core Virtue is forgiveness. As we work to instill this virtue in our students at school through modeling forgiveness and encouraging it in all conversations, we encourage families to discuss the value of forgiveness at home. Below, you can find some book recommendations that help reinforce the virtue of forgiveness.
The Painter's Cat by Sharon Wooding
The Golden Plate by Bernadette Watts
Beatrix Potter and the Unfortunate Tale of a Borrowed Guinea Pig by Deborah Hopkinson
Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes
Desmond and the Very Mean Word by Desmond Tutu

Carline - 8:15 am Tardy
We appreciate everyone's patience and efforts in trying to get here earlier for arrival. After seeing a significant decrease in arrivals earlier in the morning, and an increase in arrivals just as the school day was starting, we have started to stop the line at 8:15am so our teachers can start their instructional day.
Parents are then asked to park, walk in and sign their students in. We do not have the staff to stay outside, and the start of day was moving further and further into classroom time. The 8:15am start time is intended for the students to be in class at that time. Please try to come earlier to accommodate the school day and minimize the impact on classroom instruction.
(Note: This is not a new protocol. It has been listed on the Arrival and Departures page since last year, but have found many families were taking advantage of lax enforcement.)
Additional helpful practices for the carpool line:
Ensure your student is drop-off ready to exit quickly so the car line can move
At intersections, please be kind. When departing onto McKee, embrace the every-other-car honor system to allow each person to move forward as quickly as possible
Do not change lanes unless directed
Thank you, everyone, for working together with us as we resolve to find the best way to maximize our experience at Telra!
