Telra Telegram - January 2, 2024

Our teachers and staff are busy preparing for the return to school and we look forward to welcoming students back to the building tomorrow, Wednesday, January 3!

Reset your dismissal plans for 2024

Time for some New Year cleaning! Please reset your dismissal plans using the Alma Start Dismissal Plan Update form.

  • Everyone needs to log in and make new dismissal selections for the new year. Prior selections are no longer active and everyone will default to "car rider" if you do not make new selections. We've found that a regular "clean up" like this is the only way to get rid of obsolete data.

  • NEW - there is now only one dismissal form in Alma. You'll use the same one to set your regular plan or to make one-day deviations. More directions here.

Also, remember to use Alma Forms to submit any absence reports before 9am on the day of the absence.

School dress code

We noticed some increasing issues with student dress code adherence toward the end of 2023. So here is your regular reminder that Telra is a uniform school, and we will be stepping up enforcement in the new year. You can read more (or hear more) about this in our last issue of the telegram.

Free math tutoring service available for Telra students (grades 3-5)

ESSAM is a local nonprofit that pairs high school students with small groups of elementary students for free virtual math tutoring. If you'd like your child to participate for extra support or for enrichment, please pick two time slots that work for you on the Google doc linked here.

Read more about the program here: https://www.essamnc.org/

Any questions about the program should be directed to Samarth.kasaraneni@gmail.com

Art contests open to Telra students

Our wonderful art teacher, Miss. Garrett was delighted to witness the active participation of numerous students in the Farm to Calendar art contest earlier this year. Excitingly, there are two more engaging art contests currently underway. If you have a student eager to join, please visit the provided links for detailed information on each contest. Furthermore, kindly ensure that all submissions are sent individually, adhering to the specified contest submission procedures.
